The Jpeg format with low compression produces a typical file size for 35mm film between 500KB and 1.5MB for a 1350 dpi scan, varying depending upon picture content. Medium format file sizes vary from about 1 to 3 MB for a 6 x 4.5 cm image to 2 to 6 MB from a full frame 6 x 9 cm image. At 2700 dpi the file size will be 2 to 3 times this, and at 4000 dpi between 6 and 8 times. This format is recommended if you do not intend to carry out a large number of edits, as each time a Jpeg is saved it will lose some definition. Jpeg supports a colour resolution of 8 bits only. |
